The location

The district extends into the towns of Comox, Courtenay and Cumberland, which are the three main communities in the Comox Valley.

Nestled between the mountains and the sea, the Comox Valley lies halfway up the east coast of Vancouver Island

  • 20-minute flight from Vancouver
  • A 2.5-hour drive from Victoria
  • 1 hour's drive from Nanaimo Ferry Terminal

The district is located in a friendly, welcoming and very safe community. It offers urban amenities in an environment that allows for year-round outdoor recreation: skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, golf, and various water sports.
The towns also have modern recreation centers, cinemas, restaurants, shopping boutiques, and local transportation.

The Comox Valley offers wonderful natural vistas and a mild climate.

School Offerings and Sports

The International Student Program at Comox Valley has been in operation since 2005 and continues to offer a personalized school experience to students from around the world. It supports students to develop a global mindset while remaining focused on offering academic skills and nurturing emotional intelligence.

Small class sizes that emphasize individual attention to students. A wide choice of academic and elective courses and ESL/ELL support for all students at no additional cost.

Courses offered range from Fine Arts (music, photography, and Art) to applied technology (robotics, programming, and animation), as well as humanities and science courses.

Schools always offer assistance to international students through in-house student counselors.

Leisure Time

While living and studying in the Comox Valley, students will have access to many opportunities to experience all that this environment has to offer. By joining a school team, participating and excursions with their host family, or taking part in activities planned by the Comox Valley International Student Program, students will get to know Vancouver Island.

Homestay accommodation

The district directly selects its host families, who receive support and guidance to prepare for hosting.

During the experience, coordinators are available to monitor and assist students to ensure optimal integration.

Housing involves being welcomed as 'part of the family,' with meals included and a single room available. The hostfamily is a point of reference for the student, for all the activities one may need (SIM card, contact with the school, and support in daily living).
