The location

Orewa is located on the Hibiscus Coast, about 30 km north of Auckland. The Hibiscus Coast allows people to live in a quiet community with access to parks, forest areas and beautiful beaches and easy access to the big city. Orewa Beach is one of 12 beaches on the Hibiscus Coast.

Auckland is easily accessible by bus services in the northern area.

School Offerings and Sports

International students fit into the curriculum by being able to choose traditional academic subjects and practical subjects such as Art and Technology. An English as a Second Language program is also available if needed.

Students will also be able to opt for a 'New Zealand Experience' course to explore the 'Kiwi' world from Maori traditions, to geography, sports such as rugby, and gain access to naturalistic aspects of the island.

Orewa College has multiple activities that international students can participate in and be involved in throughout the year. There are 29 sports teams, 13 arts clubs (fine arts, music, dance and drama), 9 other clubs, 4 performance presentations and festivals, and 8 events involving the participation of the whole school.

Leisure Time

Orewa has a variety of stores and cafes that are easy for students to access. In the area, you can reach the shopping centers and beaches of Auckland's North Shore by public transportation.

Homestay accommodation

The school directly selects host families.

The Hibiscus Coast is a growing and prosperous area. Families live in comfortable, modern homes in the area near the school, within walking distance of Orewa College or close to local bus routes. The school welcomes students and families from the rural hinterland, and for some students, assigning a family to this area means having the opportunity to live in a more rural, close-to-nature environment These areas are served by school buses.

The relationships students form with host family members lead to great cultural learning and English language improvement.
